About Tamra Bolton

Tamra Bolton is a photojournalist with hundreds of magazine, newspaper, and online articles to her credit. She has also written and co-illustrated a children’s book, When I Was Small, and a memoir/biography, A Blessed Life: One World War II Seabee’s Story, about her Dad’s experiences during WW II. This book won a Bronze medal award from the prestigious Military Writer’s Society of America in 2020 and it was also a finalist for the 2020 CIBA (Chanticleer International Book Awards) in the Hearten category of Inspirational and Inspiring Non-fiction.

Her third book, The Art of Story Keeping: Saving History – One Family At A Time, was released in February 2021 and was a semi-finalist in CIBA in the Instruction and Insight category. It was also the winner of the 2024 Ember Awards in the Parenting & Family division. This book encourages the preserving of stories and memories for future generations. In it Tamra gives examples and prompts to help you become a keeper of your own family stories.

In January of 2024, the book she co-wrote with her siblings, His 100th Year, about becoming caretakers of their parents and the life lessons they taught one another, was a 2024 CIBA finalist in the Journey division. Helpful and heartwarming, this book was written to encourage adult children facing the reversal of roles in parenting.

Her latest book, based on her columns of the same name, Around the Kitchen Table, is scheduled to be released in January 2026. A heart-warming collection of family stories, old photographs, and heirloom recipes, AtKT will be like taking a trip back in time, revisiting those places of childhood that molded and shaped our lives…almost as good as a trip to Grandma’s.

Tamra has been published in such diverse publications as National Geographic Traveler, Texas Wildlife Association, Fido Friendly, Travel Post Monthly, Parade.com, Motorcycle.com, Country Woman, Farm and Ranch Living, Lifestyle, IN, FWT (Food, Wine and Travel), and Oakland Magazine. She currently writes a regular column for the Lee Newspaper group of Country Folk magazines and the online edition, Country Culture.

She is also an award-winning photographer – using her photos to accompany her articles and to promote wildlife awareness and conservation. Tamra lives in rural East Texas and enjoys reading, traveling, taking long walks with her camera, and visiting with family.
