D.M. Glover 

D.M. Glover, who grew up in historic Freehold, New Jersey, once held such a strong aversion to history that she ended up in summer school her junior year. It’s an unexpected twist that she ultimately became a historical fiction author. Prior to writing, she spent years as a dedicated caregiver for her ailing husband and raised two daughters, and she now cherishes her role as a grandmother to five.

The Trapiche Emerald sprung from a desire to educate her grandchildren about the significance of Memorial Day and July 4th. Recalling how enjoyable, engaging lessons like Schoolhouse Rock made history stick, Glover decided her stories needed to be equally fun and relatable for young readers. Through The Trapiche Emerald, she aims for readers to enjoy a captivating tale while simultaneously learning, or revisiting, key moments in American history.
