General Pearson’s Ship

Around 1900, the British Army bought over 250,000 horses and mules in the US. These animals were shipped to Africa 1000 at a time to serve in the Boer War. The author’s grandfather recalled British officers coming to buy horses from his eastern Colorado ranch. There was opposition in America.
